Maximum medical improvement, often abbreviated MMI, is the point at which your treating physicians determine that your condition is unlikely to improve further with additional treatment. It does not necessarily mean you are fully recovered. In catastrophic injury cases, it often means the medical team has done what it can, and the remaining limitations are permanent.
